Precious Achiuwa Shines at McDonald's All-American Game

Montverde Academy senior and basketball athlete Precious Achiuwa scored 22 points and snatched nine rebounds to pace the East team to a 115-100 victory over the West team in the 2019 McDonald's All-American basketball game on Wednesday, March 27 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Currently ranked as the No. 16 player in the nation by ESPN, Precious shot 50% from the field and lead the team not only in points but also in rebounding. After seeing Achiuwa's multiple dunks and drives to the rim, ESPN sports commentator Cory Alexander had a lot to say about MVA standout Achiuwa during the All-Star game.

"This is a young man who has the ability," Alexander said. "He's one of those guys that you look at and he'll probably play the four [power forward] position in college but in positionless basketball that we see now, most likely a wing once he gets to the NBA, regardless of whether that's a year or two from now. But Precious Achiuwa has the ability to be great at multiple positions."

Achiuwa's East teammate, Cole Anthony out of Oak Hill, was named MVP of the game after scoring 14 points with seven assists and five rebounds.

As usual, the McDonald's All-American game was packed with the best competition in the nation with ESPN's No. 1 ranked James Wiseman (the University of Memphis commit) headlining the event. Other five star athletes who competed in the game were No. 3 nationally ranked Vernon Carey, Jr. (Duke commit), No. 9 Khalil Whitney (the University of Kentucky commit) and No.12 Scottie Lewis (University of Florida commit) to name a few.
