Girls’ Volleyball Loses to Top Seeded Lake Highland Prep in District Championship

The Montverde Academy girls' volleyball team was defeated 3-1 (26-28, 25-14, 17-25, 18-25) by host and top seed Windermere Prep in the championship game of the Florida High School Athletic Association 3A District 5 championship on Thursday evening.

The Eagles were led by Thalita Marangon with a team co-high 12 kills, a team-high seven service aces, three blocks and 11 digs. Meanwhile Ana Julia Peixoto added 12 kills and Isabella Johnson had nine.

Luiza Manata added 13 digs for the Eagles.

Montverde Academy will now wait to see if their season will continue as the FHSAA will be releasing its bracket over the weekend.

If the Eagles have earned a spot in the regionals, they will play on Tuesday at 6:00 pm against an opponent to be determined and the higher seed's venue.
