The Montverde Academy girls volleyball team was defeated by Bishop Moore 3-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-16, 25-14) in Orlando on Wednesday evening.

As a result, the Eagles move out of contention for the Citrus League Championship. MVA is now 8-5 overall this season.

Natalia Baquerizo had a team-high 13 kills, nine digs and three service aces, while Mirea Thederahn added 10 kills and 11 digs.

Vero Ruiz added 21 digs, while Isabella Parra had 19 assists and six digs.

MVA returns to the court this Friday and Saturday for the Bishop Moore Swing for the Cure tournament at the Game Point Center in Orlando. The Eagles will play five matches over the two days, starting with the Academy of the Holy Names at 6:00 pm on Friday, followed by a match against Orangewood Christian at 7:00 pm. MVA will then play West Orange at 8:00 am on Saturday in the final match of pool play before wrapping the tournament up with two tournament matches the latter portion of the day.
