Montverde, Fla. (February 13, 2024)—Montverde Academy Department of Athletics has announced that girls' soccer team member Lola Ressler has been named the Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 11.
Ressler was the hero in the girls' soccer team's 4-3 win over Lake Highland Prep in the semifinal round of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 3A Region 2 championship. She broke a 3-3 tie in overtime, scoring the game winning goal in the ninety-sixth minute to keep MVA's season alive.
Earlier in the game, she netted a goal in the tenth minute that gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead at the time.
The senior midfielder also scored a goal and had an assist in MVA's 8-0 win over Bell Creek Academy in the FHSAA quarterfinal round match on Tuesday, February 6.
Through 20 games this season, Ressler is third on the team in goals with 10 and is second on the Eagles in assists with nine for a total of 29 points.
In addition to her participation on the girls' soccer team, Ressler is an active participant in other organizations on campus including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society and Distinguished Scholars.
A native of Oakland, Florida, Ressler is committed to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where she hopes to be an all-conference during her time there.
The Montverde Academy girls' soccer team is now 15-4-1 this season, and the Eagles are looking to win the regional championship for the second year in a row when they host Berkeley Prep on Wednesday, February 14 at 7:00 pm.
