The Creekside Knights ended Montverde Academy's undefeated season by beating the Eagles 2-0 in a spirited game on Saturday afternoon in Montverde.
With strong performances from Sarah Weisberg and Brooke Godoy, Creekside showcased their resilience and skill in a high-stakes matchup.
Weisberg opened the scoring with a goal from a corner kick in the eighteenth minute. Later in the game, Godoy added to the Knights' tally, with a finish in the seventy-second minute
MVA played without six of its starters including its starting goalkeeper, and Eagles head coach, Robbie Aristodemo was pleased with his team's performance.
"Today was a great game for us. Missing six starters in the game and not having our goalie—having to put a player in the goal—I'm really proud of the girls," Aristodemo said. "This was also a good game for us in terms of tempo and possession."
The Eagles' regular season ends with a 15-1-0 record, and MVA will now turn its attention forward to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) playoffs which start next week, with an end goal of winning the state championship for the third year in a row.
