For the second consecutive game to start the 2025 season, the Montverde Academy girls volleyball team earned a five set win as the Eagles beat George Jenkins High School 3-2 at The Nest on Thursday evening.
Just like their season opening win against Windermere High School on Tuesday, the Eagles won the first set, before falling in the second and third to fall behind before rallying back in the fourth and fifth sets to win the match.
The Eagles won the first set 25-17, before falling 25-21 in the second and third sets. Then in the fourth set, MVA earned a 25-18 win, before dominating the fifth set with a 15-4 victory.
Natalia Baquerizo led the Eagles with 20 kills, while Bianca Baquerizo had 13 kills and Mirea Thederahn with 12 kills to go along with nine digs and five service aces. Isabella Parra added 21 assists and 10 digs, while Kristina Vargas added 14 assists. Nybia Rivera-Alvarez added 16 digs.
MVA, now 2-0 on the season, returns to the court on Tuesday, August 26 for a match at Horizon High School, starting with a junior varsity match at 5:00 pm, followed by the varsity match at 6:30 pm.
**Earlier in the evening, the junior varsity team earned a 2-0 win over the George Jenkins JV squad to improve to 2-0 on the season.
