The Montverde Academy girls volleyball team picked up another strong victory on Tuesday evening, defeating New Smyrna Beach 3–1 (25–12, 25–18, 22–25, 25–16). With the win, the Eagles improve to 11–4 overall and have now won six of their last seven matches.
Mirea Thederahn led the way with 12 kills, four service aces, and two blocks, while Bianca Baquerizo added 10 kills to fuel the Eagles' offense. Gabi Carvalho chipped in eight kills and four blocks, and Natalia Baquerizo delivered seven kills, two aces, and four digs.
Setting duties were shared effectively, as Isabella Parra tallied 20 assists and two aces, and Kristina Vargas contributed 14 assists, four digs, and three aces. Defensively, Nybia Rivera-Alvarez anchored the back row with 10 digs.
The Eagles return home on Thursday to host Winter Haven High School for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night. The junior varsity match begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by varsity at 7:00 p.m.
