The Montverde Academy girls volleyball team saw its four-match win streak snapped on Tuesday night after a 3-0 loss to No. 4 state ranked and No. 38 nationally ranked Orangewood Christian at home. The Eagles fell by set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-17.
Montverde Academy, now 12-5 on the season, was swept for just the second time this year.
Despite the setback, the Eagles had several strong individual performances. Natalia Baquerizo led the way with nine kills and seven digs. Eva Bardales added four kills and six digs, while Gabi Carvalho contributed four kills in the match.
Montverde Academy will close out its regular season home schedule on Thursday when it hosts Lake Highland Prep. The junior varsity match begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:00 p.m.
