MAIT: Day Three Recaps

Day three of the 2026 Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament presented by Discover Lake County delivered decisive finishes across the bracket, highlighted by Montverde Academy's 59-53 championship win over Faith Family Academy to close the event at the Nest.

Game 9 (Seventh Place Game): Dr. Phillips over Northside Christian 75-64

Dr. Phillips High School defeated Northside Christian Academy 75-64 in the seventh place game on day three of the 2026 MAIT tournament presented by Discover Lake County.

The Panthers led the game from start to finish. They built a 21-14 lead by the end of the first quarter, and the Panthers were up 41-31 by halftime.

Dr. Phllips led by as much as 19 in the second half en route to its first win of the tournament.

All five starters scored in double figures for Dr. Phillips, and the Panthers were led by Malaki Baker with game-highs 21 points and nine rebounds. CJ Thomas, Isaiah Gilliard and Josiah Gilliard each added 13, while Caleb Smith scored 10.

Lean Allen led Northside Christian with 17 points and six rebounds.

Dr. Phillips shot 57 percent from the floor (27-for-47), including 59 percent from behind the three point line (10-for-17).
 

Game 10 (Fifth Place Game): Riviera Prep over Bethel Academy 93-77

Riviera Prep defeated Bethel Academy 93-77 in the fifth place game of the MAIT tournament.

The Bulldogs shot a scorching 66 percent from the field (33-for-50), including 67 percent from behind the three point line (16-for-24)

The Bulldogs were led by Quincy Douby, Jr.who has a game-high 31 points on 11-for-15 shooting including 7-for-9 from behind the three point line. Meanwhile Mason Fuentes shot 9-for-15 from the floor and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc for 23 points. Anton Safin was nearly perfect from the floor, shooting 9-for-10 overall and 3-for-4 from three for 21 points and four blocked shots. 

Bethel Academy was led by Devin Toatley with 25 points, while Caron Perez scored 23 points.
 

Game 11 (Third Place Game): DME Academy over The Rock School 79-68

DME Academy defeated The Rock School in the consolation game of the MAIT tournament. 

DME Academy shot 62 percent from the field (33-for-53), including a nearly flawless 76 percent in the second half (19-for-25), leading to the Volts to outscore the Lions 44-32 in the second half.

The Rock School led 19-18 at the end of the first quarter and 36-35 at halftime before DME shot the eyes off the ball in the second half,

DME Academy was led by Chrinovic Kitenge with 25 points, while Yohane Kabongo scored 22. Katanjay Jenkins recorded a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. 

The Rock School was led by Zaire Colbert with 23 points, while Jacob Pleyer netted 18 points and had five assists.

DME Academy held a massive 36-18 rebounding advantage and held a 54-18 advantage on points in the paint.


Game 12 (Championship Game): Montverde Academy over Faith Family Academy 59-53

In a battle of "Eagles," the Montverde Academy Eagles defeated Faith Family Academy Eagles 59-53 in the championship game of the 2026 MAIT tournament presented by Discover Lake County.

Montverde Academy was led by Oneal Delancy with a game-high 18 points, while Dhani Miller scored 14 in the win.  Joe Philon III added 12 and a team co-high six rebounds along with Derek Daniels.

Faith Family Academy was led by the duo of Josiah Rose and Gallagher Placide who scored 16 points each. Placide added six rebounds, while Gavin Placide had a game high eight rebounds.

Montverde Academy led most of the way, and led from the second quarter on. After holding a slim 11-10 lead after the first quarter, Montverde Academy outscored Faith Family Academy 28-19 at halftime.

Faith Family Academy cut the lead two one possession several times, but Montverde Academy answered each time.
