Montverde, Fla. (September 29, 2026) – Grace Xu is the Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the girls golf team to a runner-up finish and a dual-match victory in her first two competitions of the season last week.
Xu shot a 3-under-par 67 at the Bishop Moore Invitational on Sept. 23 at Hawks Landing Golf Course, placing fourth among 80 golfers. Her round helped MVA finish second among 15 schools. The following day, she shot a 1-over-par 37 at Bella Collina as the Eagles defeated Windermere Prep 146-155.
The strong start marks Xu's return to the team after an injury kept her out for the entire 2025 season. In 2024, as a freshman, she led MVA to its first Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A girls golf state championship. Xu opened the two-day championship with a 9-under-par 62 on Nov. 12, then shot a 2-under-par 69 in the final round. Both her opening-round 62 and her 36-hole total of 131 set FHSAA state championship records. She was also named Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Golf for the 2024 season.
Now a senior after reclassifying, Xu, Shanghai, China native, is a member of MVA's Math Club and Arts and Athletics Leadership Committee and aspires to play golf professionally.
**The Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week award is sponsored by the 2026-27 Montverde Academy Booster Club.
