The Montverde Academy baseball program is one of the top premier baseball programs for dedicated baseball players who want to play at the collegiate, professional level and perform at their peak in the classroom. The philosophy behind the baseball program is focusing on each student-athlete's character and to inspire them to develop a work ethic like no other program, because in order for athletes to improve, they need to work hard.

Baseball Program and Alumni Accomplishments

  • No.3 national varsity team rankings in 2017-2018.
  • Over seven Alumni drafted into the Major League Baseball (MLB) draft in the last few years since 2010.
    • Francisco Lindor (2011) - Was selected in the MLB Draft in the first round. Lindor started playing in the majors in 2015 and became a finalist for the Rookie of the year in the American League. Lindor was selected four times for the All-Star Game in the American League with the Cleveland Indians, received the Gold Glove award twice, and played with his team in the World Series against the Chicago Cubs. Lindor is currently playing shortstop for the New York Mets.
    • Kerry Wright  (2018) - Was drafted in the 21st round by the Tampa Bay Rays.
    • Saul Gonzalez  (2018) - Was drafted in the 23rd round of the draft by the New York Mets.
    • Nander de Sedas (2018) – Was drafted in the 29th round by Chicago White Sox.
    • Gabriel Garcia (2015) – Was drafted in 29th round by the Baltimore Orioles.
    • Angel Alicea (2013 – Was drafted 20th round by the Toronto Blue Jays.
    • Alexis Rivera (2012) – Was drafted in the 10th round by the Kansas City Royals.         
    • Noel Cuevas (2010) – Was drafted in the 21st round by the Colorado Rockies.
  • 100% College acceptance rate.

Program and Training Structure

The baseball program promotes individual work to improve on the appropriate areas of a student-athlete's game that requires attention, while continuing to improve on their strengths. The school year is divided into three phases: pre-season, season and off-season. Below are some of the elite baseball trainings and workouts that are implemented in the program:

  • Aerobic endurance
  • Analysis of mechanics for all players
  • Baseball fundamentals (fielding, throwing, hitting, base running, etc.)
  • Evaluations
  • Group and individual work
  • Monitoring each student-athlete to ensure that they maintain their grade point average and academic standing
  • Plan for improvement (academically and athletically)
  • Plyometric training
  • Aquatic training
  • Speed and agility
  • Weight room training
  • Exceptional Strength and Conditioning coaches and facilities

Ranked #1 for Most Diverse Private High School in Florida by Niche.com, the Class of 2020 has earned $13.6 million in academic scholarships and has a 100 percent college acceptance rate. MVA offers 34 Advanced Placement® courses in Upper School and a nurturing, engaging environment with more than 70 percent of teachers holding advanced degrees to ensure students of all ages excel.

MVA Eagles have won 13 National Championships and earned more than $18 million in athletic scholarships since 2011. With nearly 30 percent of our student-athletes committing to playing sports in college, we have 44 alumni playing sports professionally. We have built an outstanding, championship-winning athletics program, including the best basketball academy and best soccer academy in Florida.

MVA Fine Arts is among the best arts programs in Florida, allowing talented students to focus on their passion for music, theatre, and the arts. Media Arts have earned two National Student Emmys and a Scholastic Gold Medal in 2019. Since 2018, Theatre has earned six Critic's Choice awards, Top Honors at State contests, and Dr. Phillips Applause Awards. Our Music program has two All-National vocalists, 10 All-State musicians, and three musicians who earned the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall.
