Joseph Katuka stands as a dynamic force in the realm of high school basketball, helping head coach, helpingĀ Montverde Academy with a blend of tactical acumen and a deep commitment to player development. With a successful basketball background having played collegiately and professionally, Katuka brings a unique perspective and a winning mindset to the Eagles' program.
A native of Nigeria and a 2007 graduate of Montverde Academy, Coach Katukaās journey into basketball began with his passion for the game, which he honed through rigorous training and competition. He was a part of Montverde Academyās 30-0 team during the 2006-07 season. After graduating from Montverde Academy, he excelled for four years at George Washington University, where his exceptional skills on the court caught the attention of scouts and established him as a player to watch. He graduated from George Washington in 2011, and after college, he played professionally in the BSN league from 2011 to 2013. After two successful years as a professional, he returned to Montverde Academy to commence his coaching career.
At Montverde Academy, Katuka has served as head coach of several teams in the Academyās Center for Basketball Development (CBD) program, which includes having led his teams to the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association (SIAA) championship during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. He has also served as an assistant coach on the boys' basketball national team which has won eight national championships and produced dozens of professional players.
Katuka also serves as head coach for Nigeria's U-18 national team.

Katuka is also the founder of the Joe Katuka Basketball Foundation, which is a non-profit organization for underprivileged children in Africa.
