Jason Wade has been a coach with the Montverde Academy Center for Basketball Development since 2025. He came to MVA with having coaching experience on the Nike EYBL circuit, top 100 elite camps, and most recently as a graduate assistant for Old Dominion University men’s basketball during the 2024–25 season.
A Richmond, Virginia native, Wade had a standout career as a player at Old Dominion from 2019–24, where he displayed rare versatility by competing at all five positions. As a freshman, he helped the Monarchs win the Conference USA Tournament and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament, where they faced Purdue in the first round. The following season, he led the entire NCAA in steals per game before his career was interrupted by a series of injuries, which included season-ending knee injury, followed by a torn Achilles tendon that sidelined him for over two years. Showing remarkable perseverance, he returned to the court and was named Comeback Player of the Year at Old Dominion’s Golden Monarch Awards in 2023.
Academically, Wade earned his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications in 2023 and a master’s degree in Physical Education/Coaching in 2024, both from Old Dominion. He was also recognized on the Dean’s List in 2018–19.
Wade credits Old Dominion head coach Jeff Jones and former NBA professional Cory Alexander as mentors in his career.
