Kone brings international and collegiate coaching experience to the program. Currently, he serves as the head coach of the Guinea Senior Women’s Basketball Team and as an assistant coach with the Guinea Senior Men’s National Team. He previously worked as an assistant women's basketball coach at Delaware State from 2023–25 and with the U.S. Virgin Islands Senior Men’s National Team from 2022-23.

Before starting his coaching career, Koné was a standout player at Rutgers University, where he competed as a small forward from 2011–2015. During his four-year career, he played in three different conferences: the Big East, the American, and the Big Ten. He also represented his home country of Guinea as a member of the Guinea Senior National Team in 2017.

A 2015 graduate of Rutgers, Koné earned his degree in Human Resources Management. He was named to the Dean’s List in 2012–2013 and was honored as a Big East Conference All-Academic All-Star during that same year.

Off the court, Koné is passionate about service projects supporting orphans in Guinea and fundraising to build wells in African villages. He also enjoys traveling with his family.

Koné resides in Groveland, Florida, with his wife, Kelly Berglund, an ESL teacher at MVA. Together they have three children: Abdul-Hakeem, Halima, and Ibrahim.
