Spectrum Sports announced that two Montverde Academy student-athletes will be represented at the Spectrum Sports Breakfast of Champions in Lake-Sumter County.
Swimmer Katie Schorr and varsity soccer player Shayla Smart were chosen from Montverde Academy.
The Breakfast of Champions celebrates the accomplishments of student athletes, coaches, and high school athletics in the community.
The event will take place at the Mission Inn Resort on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 at 7 a.m.
Katie Schorr is a junior swimmer who recently placed 2nd in the 100 free and earned an invitation to participate in the NCSA select camp at the US Olympic training center in Colorado Springs. Her time of 49.23 was the 3rd fastest time in the nation for 17 year olds for this season.
Shayla Smart is a senior who will be attending Wake Forest next year. This year Shayla had 30 goals and 21 assists on the year. She helped lead the Eagles to the state championship for the first time in school history.Â
"Shayla has had a tremendous season this year and was a major piece to our offensive puzzle, we are all proud of her accomplishments this year and we are excited to see her continued development," varsity girl's soccer head coach Robbie Aristodemo said.Â
