On Thursday, October 18, the Montverde Academy middle school co-ed soccer team defeated Hampden Debose 3-2 and are now the 2018-2019 Tri-County Christian League (TCCL) Champions.

Game recap:

The Hampden Debose jumped to an early lead in the first few minutes of regular play with a goal.  Shortly after,  Zhani Burgess would answer back for the Eagles with a goal but before going into quarter three,  Hampden Debose scored for the second time. 

The Eagles trailed 2-1 but Burgess answered back for the Eagles with a second goal tying the game 2-2 just before the half.  The Eagles battled through the third quarter keeping the score as a draw but had shot several times at the opponent's goal in an attempt to gain their first lead of the game. 

In the final quarter of play, Burgess completed his hat trick by scoring another goal that would lead the Eagles to their championship victory.

"I am so proud of our kids and how they performed," said Head Coach David Graydon. "We were trailing at a certain point in the game and the kids overcame the adversity while having fun. That is what this game is all about."
