Competing for the first time since Hurricane Ian passed the area, the Montverde Academy boys' golf team earned a 20-stroke win, defeating East Ridge High School 167-187 at Bella Collina Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.

For the second time in as many matches, Quinton Barnhill and Divan Eksteen were co-leaders. Both shot 41 (+5) over the rigorous nine holes. Meanwhile Steffan Eksteen shot a 42 (+6). Sam Kozisek, competing for the first time this season, scored a 43 (+7) in his 2022 season debut.

Santiago Chavez scored a season-best 47 (+11) as a non scoring competitor, while Zander Brasher, also making his 2022 season debut, shot a 53 (+17).

The Eagles are now 3-2 this season overall, and winners of their last two matches.

Montverde Academy returns to action on Saturday, October 8, for the Lake County Cup at Harbor Hills Golf Course in Lady Lake.
