Montverde, FL— Montverde Academy has announced the hiring of Michael Damon as Sports Information Manager.
Damon will oversee the communications efforts for the Academy's athletics department, teams and sports academies along with its approximately 500 student-athletes.

Upon meeting him, his passion and knowledge for athletics is evident and we think that he is going to be a great fit to the team," said Director of Athletic Operations, Khrystal Phiri. "I know he will do an excellent job of celebrating the efforts of our student-athletes, coaches, and teams."
Damon brings a wealth of sports information experience to Montverde Academy. Prior to his appointment with the Eagles, Damon served the past six and a half years as an independent contractor serving as a sports information assistant in various roles for College sports information offices around Central Florida, including University of Central Florida, Stetson University, Rollins College, Embry-Riddle University and Bethune-Cookman University. Prior to that, Damon served as Sports Information Director for two years at Yeshiva University in New York City and as a Sports Information Director at John Jay College of Criminal Justice for eight years.
A Queens, NY native, Damon's experience also includes serving as a game day sports information assistant for over a combined 50 sports leagues, Colleges and Universities dating back to 2003. He has helped in various capacities including serving as official scorekeeper, statistician, public address announcer and play-by-play announcer for various sports.
Damon is a 2002 graduate of SUNY Cortland where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. As a student, he served as a disc jockey for the student radio station, was the sports editor for the student newspaper and interned with the University's sports information office.
