Montverde, Fla.— Yani Guzman ripped a two-run single in the bottom of the third inning to take a 1-0 deficit and turn it into a 2-1 lead and it proved to be enough as Faith Fournier held the opposition to just one (unearned) run on four hits as the Montverde Academy softball team beat Bishop Moore 2-1 in Tuesday's home opener.
The win improves the Eagles to 2-0 on the season.
Guzman went 1-for-2 with two runs batted in in the win, while Danika Spinogatti went 2-for-3 with a double. Meanwhile Makayla Navarro, Leila Susaia, Jenna Meder and Paris Ford had one hit each.
