The Montverde Academy baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull off a 4-3 win over Spruce Creek High School in the Eagles' first game of the Florida League High School Invitational in Sanford on Monday.
MVA is now 7-3 this spring with the win.
Down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, MVA had the bases loaded and one out when Salvador Alvarez hit a hard ground ball that was botched by the Spruce Creek second baseman, allowing Victor Martinez and Eric Correa to score to secure the win.
AJ Goytia was 1-for-3 with an run batted in, while Victor Martinez went 1-for-3 with a run and a run batted in.
Oscar Hernandez picked up the win in relief, going 2.0 innings and allowing no runs on one hit.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday morning for a game against Orangewood Christian School at Sanford Memorial Stadium at 8:45 am.
