Panama City Beach, Fla.-- The Montverde Academy softball team won two more games on Saturday as the Eagles beat Arnold High School 11-1 and Leon High School 21-4 to complete a four game sweep at the Florida-US Softball Challenge this weekend.
With the wins, MVA remains undefeated this season and the Eagles are now 6-0.
In the win over Arnold, the Eagles were down 1-0 in the third before they exploded with three runs in the third, followed by seven in the fourth to take control of the game. Danika Spinogatti and Colby Reish had two hits each. Spinagotti went 2-for-3 with a run and two runs batted in, while Reish went 2-for-4 with two runs and a run driven in. Yani Guzman had a game-high three runs batted in. Faith Fournier picked up the win after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing one run on two hits.
Against Leon, the Eagles scored 10 runs in the first inning and seven more in the second to lead 17-0 after two as MVA cruised to victory. Eight Eagles had at least two hits, while Leila Susaia, Paris Ford and Miah Sostre had three each. Susaia went 3-for-3 with four runs and four runs batted in, while Ford went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in. Sostre went 3-for-3 and scored three times. Jenna Meder hit the team's first home run of the season, going 2-for-4 with two runs and four runs batted in.
MVA is back in action on Tuesday when the Eagles return home for a game against Winter Park High School at 6:00 pm
