The Montverde Academy softball team defeated Lecanto High School 11-0 on Monday evening to improve to 15-6 on the season.
The Eagles scored a run in the first inning to lead 1-0 early. The score remained into the fifth, when MVA put up seven runs in the top of the fifth to jump to pull ahead by eight runs. Then the Eagles scored three more times in the top of the seventh to lead by 11, en route to the shutout win.
Jenna Meder led the way for the Eagles by going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs, while Yani Guzman went 2-for-3 with three runs and a run batted in. Paris Ford got two hits including a home run and had two runs batted in. Danika Spinogatti went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, while Skai Albury went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in.
Nevaeh Williams earned her sixth win of the year after pitching 4.0 innings and allowing no runs on one hit while striking out six. Emerson Gunkel finished off the final three innings to preserve the shutout. She went 3.0 innings and allowed two hits and struck out two.
