The Montverde Academy beach volleyball team has won the 2022 Florida High School Athletic Association district championship as the Eagles defeated West Orange High School in the championship game 3-0 to punch their ticket into the regional tournament next week.

The win was the first time in three tries against the Warriors this season who defeated the Eagles twice during the regular season before heading into the championship game today.

The Eagles won at pairs four and five to lead 2-0 early before pairs one, two and three took to the court. Then MVA iced the win as pair number three secured a victory to confirm the team win.

MVA will now compete in a play-in round on Monday May 2 against an opponent to be determined at a location to be determined at a time to be determined. If the Eagles win the play-in round, they will advance to the state championship series in Tallahassee on May 6 and 7.
