Despite playing without key players due to injury, the Montverde Academy girls' volleyball team stepped up and had an inspirational win on Monday as the Eagles defeated Windermere Prep 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) in the quarterfinal round of the FHSAA Class 3A District 5 championship.
MVA was led by Paola De Chavarria Munoz with 16 kills, 13 digs, 20 assists and two service aces. Â Meanwhile Isabella Johnson had eight kills and four blocks in the win, while Evy DeClercq had six kills and three blocks. Catherine Emilcar added six kills and two blocks. Koryn Scott, playing for the first time as a member of the varsity roster added five kills in the win. Rosabella Palanti added a team-high three service aces, and Giavanna Parker had 18 digs.
MVA will now play at top seeded Lake Highland Prep in a semifinal round match on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
