The Monteverde Academy Eagles girls' basketball national team defeated Fort Erie International 64-75 at the Nest on Wednesday evening.

In the first half eagles started off with an 18-8 run, and towards the middle of the second period, the Eagles continued their streak of dominance by showing a better performance.

Forward Chloe Sotell showed an incredible performance and made a great help to her team in widening the gap by scoring several three-pointers and a layup and the Eagles went to the locker room leading 41-25.

The second half started a little difficult for the Eagles, and despite the tough points scored by the Fort Erie team in the third quarter and their good defense, the third quarter ended 17-17.

In the last quarter, the Eagles were outscored 22-17, but with a large enough lead they managed to win the game by 11.
 

"It was a good win, we played well and our pace is very well, it was hard to catch our pace for them, our shooters running to corners, we did a very good job making good shots," head coach Matt Shewmake said. "Win streaks are good, keep doing it so we got to keep winning, playing hard, practicing hard, we need to be ready for everybody's best game."

Leading scorer for Eagles was Sotell with 20 points. Jaloni Cambridge scored 14 points and had 15 assists. Finley Chastain and Vivian Iwuchukwu scored 12 points apiece.

"I think it was a very good team win and I think we can be more competitive during practice and it can help against hard teams," Holland Harris said.

The Eagles are now 4-0 on the season and their next game is Saturday, December 2 at Lake Highland Prep at 3:00 pm.
