The Montverde Academy boys' basketball team improved to 10-0 on the season after earning a 110-57 win over The Cannon School on Monday in day one of the 2023 City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

Cooper Flagg scored a team-high 22 points, along with seven rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots. Meanwhile Derik Queen was nearly perfect, shooting 9-for-10 from the floor and scored 19 points. Curtis Givens added 13 points, Caleb Gaskins 12, Asa Newell 11 and Liam McNeeley 10.

The Eagles held an overwhelming 41-11 advantage in rebounding, 62-22 advantage on points in the paint, 22-4 advantage on second chance points and 30-7 advantage on fastbreak points.

MVA raced out to a 31-19 lead after the first quarter, and the Eagles were up 62-33 by halftime en route to the win.

As a result of the victory, the Eagles move into the winners' bracket and will play on Thursday against Archbishop Stepinac in a quarterfinal round game at 5:15 pm.
