The Montverde Academy boys' basketball team defeated Link Academy 71-59 on day one of the Nike EYBL Scholastic's The Nike Event in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday evening.

The Eagles were led by Derik Queen with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Cooper Flagg added 15 points and nine rebounds. Robert Wright added 16 points and six assists. Liam McNeeley scored 14 points.

The Eagles led 16-12 after the first quarter and MVA had a 35-22 advantage at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, MVA had a 56-33 before coasting to victory.

MVA is back in action on Saturday for day two of the Nike Event against AZ-Compass at 4:45 pm Eastern Time.
