The Montverde Academy girls' soccer team opened its 2024 portion of its 2023-24 season with another win, as the Eagles defeated Parrish Community School 6-0 in Parrish, Florida on Friday evening.
The win improves MVA to 10-0-1 on the season.
Estefania Gonzalez scored her team leading 15th, 16th and 17th goals for her third hat-trick of the season in the win. Meanwhile, Joy Palacios, Vienna Morgan and Reese John added one goal each for MVA.
The Eagles led 2-0 at halftime after Gonzalez scored the first goal of the game, with an assist coming from Rhyanne Pascoe in the 28th minute. Ten minutes later, Palacios netted a goal, with Pascoe getting another assist.
In the second half, Morgan added a goal to put the Eagles up 3-0, with the assist coming from Gonzalez. Then Gonzalez netted the next two goals in the 48th and 49th minute to put MVA up 5-0. The a goal by John in the final minute of play rounded out the scoring.
The game was not only MVA's first of 2024, but the Eagles' first action since the final day of the WIST tournament last month when head coach Robbie Aristodemo earned his 200th career win, giving the MVA honcho coaching career win 201.
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, January 9 for a match at McKeel Academy of Technology at 7:00 pm.
