In a highly anticipated matchup between the Montverde Academy girls' soccer team and the Bishop Moore Hornets, three Eagles scored to propel the Montverde Academy to a 3-0 win last Wednesday at Dan Newlin Injury Attorney Stadium.

Coach Robbie Aristodemo's team started out strong wanting to keep possession of the ball, which helped the team create a free kick chance that was converted by Lola Rey in the 13th minute to put the Eagles up 1-0.

"The goalie was on the right side, and she was giving me the left... I was happy it went in," said Rey whose goal landed in the net just under the crossbar.

Bishop Moore struggled to execute their game plan as Montverde dominated the first half leading to not many good opportunities for the Hornets to sting the Eagles.

The Hornets had a hot start to the second half as winger Kennedy Boudreau had the Hornets best chance of the game with a close range shot that was miraculously saved by Montverde goalkeeper Alyssa Strausbaugh.

It took until the 63rd minute for Montverde Academy to score again. Midfielder Kendall Seays stole the ball deep in Bishop Moore territory, slotting home a brace that put the Eagles up 2-0.

The Eagles didn't stop the pressure and Vienna Morgan beat a defender and put in a cross that set up Sara Echavarria for the goal in the 73rd minute to put the Eagles up 3-0.

In the end, it was an impressive home win for the Eagles as they remain undefeated against a strong championship contending Bishop Moore team.

Montverde Academy's next game is November 22th, when the Eagles go on the road to take on Gulf Breeze High School at 7:00 pm.
