The Montverde Academy boys basketball team secured a dominant 96-77 victory over Archbishop Carroll in the opening round of the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, FL on Wednesday.
The Eagles were led by Dante Allen with a game high 30 points on 212-of-16 shooting with six rebounds. CJ Ingram, added 19 points while shooting 6-for-11 from the field and had six assists. Trent Sisley added 18 points on an efficient 7-for-8 shooting, while Hakeem Weems contributed 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Kayden Allen provided 10 points, five assists, and three steals.Â
Archbishop Carroll was led by Luca Foster with 28 points, including four three-pointers. Munir Greig added 14 points and six rebounds, while Yasir Turner added 11 points and five rebounds.Â
Going into halftime up 43-37, MVA then outscored Archbishop Caroll 55-40 in the second half to pick up the 19 point win.
The Eagles held an overwhelming 58-30 advantage on points in the paint, while shooting 58 percent from the floor (38-for-66).
MVA is back in action on Thursday against Millennium High School at 9:00 pm the quarterfinal round of the winner's bracket. The game will stream live free of charge on the League Ready YouTube page.
