After a 17-4-1 record through the first twenty-two games this season, game twenty-three of the 2023-24 season is for all the marbles!

The Montverde Academy girls' soccer team is competing for the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 3A state championship.

The Eagles square off against Edgewood High School on Saturday, February 23 at 10:00 am at Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale, Florida.

MVA got to this point after beating P.K. Yonge 3-0 in the semifinal round on Wednesday. Prior to that, MVA won the regional and district championships to earn a spot to compete for Florida girls' soccer state supremacy.

This season, the Eagles have been led in scoring by Estefania Gonzalez with 27 goals and 12 assists.

Edgewood enters the championship match with a 14-2-2 overall record and have been led by Gianna Lopez with 13 goals and seven assists.

The championship game on Saturday is a rematch of sorts for the Eagles. Earlier this season, MVA hosted Edgewood High School on November 17, and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
