Montverde Academy softball scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and put the game out of reach as the Eagles defeated host Lake Mary High School 11-5 on Monday evening.
The win was the eighth in a row for the Eagles who are now 15-3 on the season.
MVA scored a run in the top of the first and another in the top of the fourth and fifth to lead 3-0. The Rams scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 3-2. The Eagles scored again in the top of the sixth to go back up by a pair before Lake Mary tied the score in the bottom of the sixth with two runs.
Then the Eagles put up seven in the top of the seventh to give themselves more than enough to maintain the lead, en route to victory.
Ari Jimenez was 3-for-4 with three runs and a run batted in, while Elena Friedman had three runs batted in. Colby Reish was 2-for-3 with a double, and Danika Spinogatti was 1-for-3 with a home run.
Nevaeh Williams earned the win after going 7.0 innings and allowing five runs (three earned), while striking out six.
