Montverde, Fla. (April 17, 2024)—Montverde Academy Department of Athletics has announced that girls' beach volleyball player Gracie McClain has been named the Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 14.

McClain continued her winning ways last week, teaming with Naju Peixoto at first pair for two wins.

She and Peixoto teamed in pair one in the Eagles 5-0 win over Windermere High School last Tuesday. In that match, the pair won the first set by an inconceivable 21-0 score, before winning 21-8 in the second set. The next day, again at pair one, she and Peixoto teamed for a win (21-4, 21-10) in a 5-0 MVA victory over Ocoee High School.

While the wins were impressive last week, McClain has been impressive all season long. Playing at pair number one, she holds a 13-2 overall record, helping MVA beach volleyball to a 13-2 overall record as a team this season.

A senior, McClain is very involved in the school community at MVA. She is the treasurer for the Arts and Athletics Leadership Committee (AALC), an Eagle Ambassador, Director of Teams at Night for the Cure, a member of the pom squad team as well as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She committed to attend college at the University of Alabama next year.

McClain and the rest of the 2024 beach volleyball team returns to action next week for the 2024 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) district tournament hosted by Montverde Academy.
