The Montverde Academy boys' lacrosse team has earned the No. 3 seed and makes its way into the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) district quarterfinal round on Wednesday, April 10 at 7:00 pm.
The Eagles' first district playoff opponent is No. 6 seed Foundation Academy. It will be a tough battle on both ends. If MVA is able to defeat Foundation Academy, the Eagles will be set to play at No. 2 seed Bishop Moore in the district semifinals on Friday at 7:00 pm. If MVA wins there, it will play for the district championship on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:00 pm either at No. 1 seed Lake Highland Prep or home against No. 4 seed The First Academy or No. 5 seed Trinity Prep.
The boys' lacrosse team has done exceptionally well, earning a 9-4 record so far this season. The Eagles have scored 111 goals, averaging 8.5 goals per game as well as 54 assists, averaging 4.2 assists per game.Â
Some of the Eagles to look out for could be Mason Eldridge who is averaging 2.2 goals per game and Drew Glass who is averaging 1.6 assists and 1.7 goals per game. Also, Zander Brasher who has a total of 94 ground balls as well as starting keeper Sam Juhnke who has made 112 saves.
If MVA manages to pave their way through the FHSAA district tournament, they will obtain a qualifying position for the FHSAA regional tournament, which starts on April 24. If all goes well the Eagles will then advance to the FHSAA state final four held in Naples, FL, the first week of May.
