Montverde Academy Girls Soccer Ready for Girls Soccer Showcase

Montverde, Fla. (January 15, 2025)—Six of the best high school girls' soccer teams in the state of Florida will collide with the Montverde Academy girls' soccer team on the amazing Montverde Academy campus this weekend for two days of high level soccer.

Montverde Academy is set to host its annual Girls Soccer Showcase (GSS, previously the WIST) a highly competitive showcase where highly skilled student-athletes on top girls' varsity high school soccer teams will play in front of well respected and highly regarded women's college soccer coaches.

Coming into this showcase, the Eagles, who are ranked number one in the state of Florida and the country, are undefeated with an incredible 14-0-0 record, having scored a total of 54 goals in all competitions.

MVA's first game is on Friday, January 17th against Ponte Vedra at 8:00 pm, and their second game is against Creekside on Saturday at 12:00 pm.

Ponte Verda (Ponte Verda, FL) is currently 10-1-2 this season and ranked number four in the state of Florida and number seven in the nation. The Sharks have outscored opponents 36-9 overall in the process. Last season, they went 22-1-1 en route to winning the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 6A state championship. Meanwhile, Creekside (St. Johns, FL) is currently 11-0-1, ranked number three in the state of Florida and number five in the nation, has netted 34 goals this season. They are the defending FHSAA Class 7A champions and seem poised for another trophy hoist by season's end.

"I'm looking forward to a fun weekend to continue pushing our players against top quality opposition," said Montverde Academy girls soccer head coach Robbie Aristodemo.

Montverde Academy, defending FHSAA Class 3A state champions, come into the showcase led in scoring by Luisa Tannus with 14 goals, with teammates Alessandra Jimenez, Lola Rey and Brianna Burkhalter joining in with five goals each. Leading the team in assists is sophomore Kendall Seays with six.

Other teams in the showcase include North Fort Myers (North Fort Myers, FL), St. Paul II Academy (Boca Raton, FL), and Bishop Moore High School (Orlando, FL).
Admission for the GSS tournament is $10.00, which includes free parking.
