After trailing the entire first half and most of the second half, the Montverde Academy outscored its opponent 18-8 in the fourth quarter to come from behind to defeat Calvary Christian 62-55 in the final game of day two of the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT).
CJ Ingram led MVA with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Trent Sisley added 13 points in the win. Dante Allen added 12.
"We are a team that can face diversity and we are just getting started, it was a real fight atmosphere," Ingram said after the game.
Ingram completed the Eagles' comeback with 5:57 to go in the fourth quarter on a layup to tie the game at 47. Moments later, teammate Hakeem Weems puts the Eagles ahead for good on a layup with 3:43 to go.
The electricity from the standing room only student section gave Calvary Christian fits and the energy MVA needed to pull through in the waning moments of the game that saw MVA outscore them 11-4 in the final four minutes.
"The crowd was into it tonight as usual," Ingram said. "They gave us some momentum that we really needed in the fourth quarter".
Cayden Daughtery led Calvary Christian with a game-high 18 points.
Eagles will now play CIA Bella Vista for the MAIT championship on Saturday at 8:00 pm.
