Playing in its first game of the 2025 calendar year, the Montverde Academy girls' soccer team breezed by the Sickles High School Gryphons 4-0 on a frigid Wednesday evening in Montverde.
It only took just over a minute for the Eagles to get on the board. Kendall Seays found Ale Jimenez who slotted it home for the first goal of the night, just 1:03 into the contest.
The Eagles didn't slow down as seven minutes in it was Seays's turn to get on the score sheet as she slotted home a goal of her own that increased the lead to 2-0 Eagles.
Later in the first half it was Jimenez's turn to assist Seays, as she crossed the ball to Seays for the Eagles third goal of the night and the sixth for Seays this season.
The first half ended with domination from Montverde as the Eagles kept most all of the possession, having four shots made and a three goal lead.
The second half wasn't much different as the Eagles continued to dominate the possession as they strategically picked their moments to strike on offense out-shooting Sickles 10-6 overall, and barely giving Sickles any look at goal with six saves on the night by MVA goalkeeper Alyssa Strausbaugh.
It was Luisa Tannus who found the ball in the 71st minute at the top of the Sickles box, and finished out the night's action with a perfectly placed right footed shot that found the back of the net, giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead.
"It's incredible, we have a really good team, really strong players, pretty young, but a lot ahead," Jimenez stated after the game.
The Eagles hope to stay undefeated as they welcome Somerset Academy - Canyons Thursday at 5:30 on Bishop's Gate 1 for senior night.
