The Montverde Academy girls soccer team wasted no time asserting control in its home opener, scoring early and often in an 8-0 win over South Lake that ended by mercy rule just three minutes into the second half.
MVA (2-0-1) struck on its first four shot attempts and led 7-0 by halftime before netting the final goal three minutes into the second half. Seven different players found the back of the net, led by sophomore Caroline Ritchey, who scored twice in the opening six minutes.
Marta Arbenina, Isabella Marin, Sara Echavarria, Brianna Burkhalter, Vienna Morgan, and Lais Rangel each added a goal for the Eagles, while Arbenina, Rangel, and Morgan also tallied assists.
MVA out shot South Lake 19-0 in the dominant performance.
The Eagles will look to carry that momentum into their next match when they host XL Academy on Tuesday at 530 p.m.
