Montverde Academy girls basketball opened the 2025–26 season in dominant fashion on Tuesday evening, powering past Lake Highland Prep for a 68–38 win at The Nest.
The Eagles controlled the game from the opening tip, surging ahead 21–9 after the first quarter and carrying a 33–18 advantage into halftime.
Senior forward Missy Odom set the tone with a standout double-double, posting game highs of 26 points and 12 rebounds.Zaniyah Williams added 13 points and six assists, orchestrating the offense and helping the Eagles maintain their up-tempo rhythm throughout the night.
MVA also overpowered Lake Highland Prep across the stat sheet, winning nearly every major category. The Eagles held a 46–34 edge in rebounds, outscored the Highlanders 24–10 on points in the paint, and controlled second chances with a 12–3 advantage.
With the strong opening performance, the Eagles now turn their attention to a major early-season test. MVA will travel to Kahuku, Hawaii, to compete in the She Got Game Classic, where they will face Kamehameha on Sunday, November 23, at 2:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
