The Montverde Academy girls basketball team earned a hard-fought 53-50 victory over St. John Collegiate on Thursday at the National Capital Invitational Classic in Washington, D.C. The win pushes the Eagles to 5-1 on the season.

Jamila Ray led the way with a team-high 15 points for MVA.

The Eagles' next game is Friday, taking on Royal Crown at 5:40 p.m. in the She Got Game Classic in Springfield, Virginia.
