The Montverde Academy girls basketball team opened play at the Cherokee Invitational with a commanding 56-30 victory over Page High School on Saturday night.
The Eagles were led by a strong all-around performance from Jordan Speller, who finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Jayla Forbes recorded a double-double in the win, contributing 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Montverde Academy controlled the game on both ends of the floor and held Page High School to 30 points for the contest.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-1 on the season. Montverde Academy returns to action on Monday afternoon when it faces Our Lady of Good Counsel at 12:15 p.m. in Cherokee, North Carolina.
