The Montverde Academy girls basketball team punched its ticket to the championship game of the Cherokee Invitational with a convincing 63-37 victory over Our Lady of Good Counsel in the semifinal round on Monday afternoon.

With the win, Montverde Academy earned its ninth victory of the season and improved to 9-1 overall.

Jayla Forbes delivered a dominant performance for the Eagles, posting a double-double with a game-high 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the way on both ends of the floor. Kendall Perry also contributed in double figures, finishing with 10 points and four rebounds in the win.

MVA controlled the tempo throughout the afternoon, using strong defense and efficient scoring to build separation and maintain command of the game.

The Eagles will now play for the Cherokee Invitational championship on Tuesday morning, when they take on Grace Christian at 11:00 a.m.
