The Montverde Academy boys basketball team fell 68-59 to Wasatch Academy in a competitive day one matchup of the 2025 Nike EYBL Scholastic Sunshine Classic presented by Fountain Auto Group at the Nest on Friday evening.

The Eagles received strong performances from multiple players, led by Dhani Miller, who scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed a team co-high eight rebounds. Jayden Hodge added 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds, while Oneal Delancy contributed 10 points off the bench.

MVA led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter, but trailed 32-26 by halftime. The visiting Tigers led by as much as 16 in the second half and led the entire second half.

The Eagles look to bounce back on Saturday against Dream City Christian in day two of the Sunshine Classic with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 pm.
