Montverde Academy and Hagerty High School faced off in a season opening lacrosse match on a breezy night under the stars with the Eagles quickly establishing their superiority, defeating the Huskies 18–4.
Blake Kuhn led the charge for Montverde with five goals and two assists, putting on an incredible show. He was the offensive engine for the Eagles, with his ability to set up scoring opportunities, and execute the game plan with precision.
Early on, the match had some competition, but Montverde Academy's constant pressure caused things to crack. The Eagles' relentless offensive and defensive dominance propelled them to a decisive 15-0 advantage by halftime.
Gavin Ionelli had a fantastic evening with four goals, and defender Evan Flanagan was instrumental in maintaining the Eagles' speedy momentum. Sam Juhnke guarded the net, blocking Hagerty's two first half shot attempts.
Despite Hagerty's four goals, their offense was unable to overcome Montverde Academy's overwhelming lead. The Eagles kept control and set the pace for the game by dominating with 41ground balls and winning most of the faceoffs.
Montverde Academy prepares for its next test in an attempt to extend its season starting winning streak to two with a game against Lake Brantley on Tuesday at 6:30 pm.
