Pitcher Nevaeh Williams allowed just one hit and struck out 16 and the bats supplied plenty of offense as the Montverde Academy softball team defeated Lake Brantley High School 8-0 at the Montverde Academy Softball Complex on Friday evening.

The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead. Danika Spinogatti hit her fifth home run of the season and the thirteenth in her MVA career to tie the record for most career home runs in Montverde Academy softball history. 

The two-run homer put the Eagles up by two, but MVA scored plenty more. The Eagles scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 6-0. La'Breah Sands ripped a two-run single to score Miranda Murch and Elena Friedman., making the score 4-0. Then Audrey Vivino hit her first home run of the season, a two-run shot, to make the score 6-0.

Then in the fifth inning Vivino ripped a single to score Sands to make the score 7-0.

MVA scored again in the sixth when Luna Taboas safely stole home on a double steal.

As a unit, the Eagles had 11 hits, including three off the bat of Taboas and two each by Sands and Vivino. Vivino had a team-high three runs batted in, while Spinogatti and Sands had two each.

MVA is now 12-1 on the season and are back in action on Monday for a game at Hagerty at 6:00 pm.
