The Montverde Academy boys lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance on Thursday afternoon, overpowering Windermere Prep 15-2 on the road.
Nine different players scored at least one goal in the win.
Senior Camden Fisher led the charge with four goals, while seventh-grader Nate Kuhn impressed with two goals. Freshman Gavin Ionelli also made a significant impact, netting three goals. Meanwhile, freshman Nate Russo, Corbin Pierce, Daniel Silva and Otto Barroso had one goal each.
Montverde Academy controlled possession throughout the game, winning 13 of 20 faceoffs, with junior Brayden Long dominating the circle winning 13 of 17. The Eagles also overwhelmed Windermere Prep in ground ball battles, securing 55 total. Long led the way with nine, while Kuhn contributed five. Frank Jones and Barroso picked up four groundballs each.
Defensively, the Eagles were relentless, allowing only seven shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Sam Juhnke played a flawless 12 minutes, making two saves and allowing no goals. Fellow senior Andrew Chehansky held strong over the final three quarters stopping three shots while allowing two.
Montverde Academy improves to 4-4 on the season and looks to carry this momentum into their next matchup, a home contest against Windermere High School on Friday at 6:30 pm.
