Middle School Track & Field Team Members Overwhelm at FLYRA Championships

On Saturday, while the Class of 2025 celebrated their graduation on campus, younger Eagles were writing their own chapter of history just a few hours away at the Florida Youth Running Association (FLYRA) Middle School State Track & Field Championship in Bradenton on the IMG Academy campus.

Three standout student-athletes — Max Georgiev, Kylee Brown, and Lexi Fraser — each delivered record-breaking, gold-medal performances, setting new meet records and placing Montverde Academy at the forefront of middle school track and field in Florida.

In the Boys' Pole Vault, Max Georgiev, competing as an unattached athlete, soared to a new state meet record of 4.12 meters (13'6.25"), obliterating the previous mark of 12'8.25". The Class of 2029 standout, and younger brother of Class of 2024 graduate and Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state champion pole vaulter Alex Georgiev, captured first place with one of the most dominant performances the meet has ever witnessed.

In the Girls' Pole Vault, fellow Class of 2029 vaulter Kylee Brown, also competing unattached, cleared 3.43 meters (11'3"), surpassing the previous FLYRA record of 3.35 meters held since 2017 by Montverde Academy Class of 2021 alum Kai Eisenhardt. Her winning vault cemented Montverde Academy continued legacy in pole vault and earned her the top spot on the podium.

In addition, Natalie Grausam, competing unattached, finished second in the Girls' Pole Vault with a jump of 3.15 meters (10'4"), while Raj Andrade, unattached, earned a hard fought eighth place in the Boys' Pole Vault with a height of 3.00 meters (9'8").

On the track, Lexi Fraser, a rising star from the Class of 2030, representing her club FSG Athletics, ran a sensational 2:13.28 in the Girls' 800 meters, setting a new FLYRA meet record and capturing the state title.

Montverde Academy's presence extended well beyond the record-breakers.

Angelica Wolfe, who competed unattached, finished an impressive 9th place in the Girls' 800 meters, clocking a time of 2:22.34 against a very competitive field.

In the distance events, Alafair Scelfo, unattached, took on a demanding double. She finished 23rd in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:11.19, and finished 21st place in the 3000 meters in a time of 11:27.99.
