Dasia Reed and Nakira Hudson Named to Orlando Sentinel All-Area Girls Track & Field Team

Montverde, FL (June 16, 2025) — Montverde Academy is proud to announce that girls track & field standouts Dasia Reed and Nakira Hudson have been named to the Orlando Sentinel's All-Area Team, following exceptional seasons capped by state championship performances and a historic team run.

Dasia Reed delivered one of the most dominant sprinting seasons in the state. She captured the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 2A state championship in the 200 meters, clocking a winning time of 23.89 seconds. In the 100 meters, she narrowly missed a second state title, finishing second by just 0.01 seconds.

Reed's consistency all year was unmatched — she never placed lower than second in either the 100 or 200 meters all season. She ran a personal-best 11.41 seconds to win the 100 meters at the Pepsi Florida Relays on April 5 and posted a personal-best 23.61 seconds in winning the 200 meters at the Florida State Relays on March 28. She also added a win in the 400 meters at the Citrus League Championship on April 8.

Nakira Hudson was equally dominant in the 400 meters, capturing a clean sweep of titles at the district, regional, and state championships. Like Reed, Hudson never placed lower than second in her specialty event all season. She recorded a personal-best time of 53.29 seconds while finishing second in a highly competitive field at the Pepsi Florida Relays on April 5.

Their individual accomplishments helped power the Montverde Academy girls track & field team to one of its best seasons in school history. The team won the District Championship on April 24 and followed it up with a Regional Championship on May 2. At the FHSAA State Championship on May 9, the Eagles finished a very close second in the overall team standings.

In addition to their postseason success, Montverde Academy also earned team titles at several major meets throughout the season, including the Mount Dora Christian Invitational on March 1, The First Academy Invitational on March 8, the Florida State Relays on March 29, and the Citrus League Championship on April 8.

Reed and Hudson will continue their standout seasons at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from June 19 through June 22.
