Montverde, Fla. (September 23, 2025) – Montverde Academy is proud to announce boys cross country runner Will Moss has been named its Student-Athlete of the Week following his outstanding performance at the Tiger Invitational at Tohopakaliga High School in Kissimmee this past weekend.
Moss outpaced a field of 82 runners to claim the individual championship, crossing the finish line in a personal best and course record time of 15:39.91 minutes. The victory marked the ninth consecutive race in which Moss has been the top Montverde Academy finisher — a streak that began at the 2023 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) State Championship, continued through every race of the 2024 season, and now extends to the first two meets of the 2025 campaign.
A member of the boys cross country program since the eighth grade, Moss, now in eleventh grade, has now been the top overall finisher in two career races in an Eagles' uniform. His first came in 2024, when he won the FHSAA District Championship, before placing top 10 at the regional championship and top 30 at the state championship.
Moss is also a standout on the boys track and field team, where he has captured multiple FHSAA District and Regional Championships. He is the reigning district champion in the 1600 meters, and last season earned district and regional titles in the 3200 meters.
On the national stage, Moss was the overall winner of the 2-mile event at the Adidas Track National Championship in the summer of 2024.
With his victory at the Tiger Invitational, Moss once again showcased his commitment to excellence and his place as one of Florida's top distance runners.
Moss and the rest of the cross country team will compete next at the Green Monster Invitational at East Ridge High School on Saturday, October 4.
