The Montverde Academy girls soccer team closed out its 2025–26 regular season in impressive fashion Friday night, earning a 1-0 road victory at Lake Mary High School in a matchup featuring two of the state and nation's top programs.
Both teams entered the contest ranked in the top four of the latest MaxPreps national poll, with Montverde Academy checking in at No. 3 and Lake Mary ranked No. 4.
The game's lone goal came in the first half, when Vienna Morgan found the back of the net to give the Eagles an early advantage. That goal proved to be all Montverde Academy would need, as the defense delivered a dominant performance the rest of the way.
Montverde Academy's back line limited Lake Mary to zero shots on goal, and goalkeeper Alyssa Strasbaugh was not required to make a save in the shutout victory.
With the win, Montverde Academy finishes the regular season with a 13-1-1 overall record. The Eagles now turn their attention to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) district playoffs.
District brackets are scheduled to be released by the FHSAA this weekend. Montverde Academy is expected to earn the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye into the district semifinal round, which is scheduled for Thursday, January 22.
